Get Modal Dialog via Automation ID

Oct 13, 2008 at 1:00 AM
Is there no way to get a modal dialog window using the Automation ID?  All I can find is the Window.ModalWindow call that accepts the title as it's first parameter.  What I want it to be able to specify the automation id as is done on the Application.GetWindow(SearchCriteria.ByAutomationId(name)) kind of call.

No there is none right now.
I am curious about whether you do have a situation where the title of two windows in an application are same?

I don't have two windows with the same title.  By using the automation Id I'm more robust to change, e.g., the users ask for a small change to the title and my automation breaks vs. using the automation id where it doesn't break.  We were trying to consistently use the automation id throughout all our tests.

Fair point. Would be in next (0.18) release.
