Searching for items within a list item

We have a navigation pane in our application which uses list items for each entry. I can happily use white to find and manipulate the top level listItem. The problem is each of our list items contains further controls e.g. an image, a text block and an edit box. Is it possible to be able to search using White within a standard item for further standard items? for example:

editbox myedit  = listitem.get<editbox>(search criteria);

at present I am having to jump to using automationElements for the child controls, but would really like to be able to represent them as white objects and have access to some of the features available. example:

conds = new PropertyCondition(AutomationElement.ClassNameProperty, "HeaderTextBox");

AutomationElement box = listitem.AutomationElement.FindFirst(TreeScope.Element | TreeScope.Descendants, conds);

Many Thanks

You are right. This is an feature that needs to be added to white. Should be available in release after next.
